Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Holiday Season
In a unexpected crossover event that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden cult.
The questline focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying adversary" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana alongside multiple items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This update also adds the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
