It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and a priceless quality in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
